Founded in 2009, Steveston-based Veronica Armstrong Law Corporation (VALC) provides services in corporate law, securities law, and personal planning law. They take pride in delivering exceptional legal services by guiding clients through every step of the legal process with clarity, transparency, and unwavering dedication.
Veronica Armstrong, founder & CEO of VALC, discovered her interest in law through a passion for Latin, leading her to pursue a successful legal career in South Africa before immigrating to Canada in 1998. However, the transition to a new country wasn't without its challenges.
Despite her impressive credentials leading a legal team as a corporate and international finance lawyer in South Africa, Veronica encountered skepticism and discrimination in the Canadian legal landscape. She recalls her first job in Canada being a dishwasher, highlighting the humbling nature of her journey. Veronica says, “If there's anything you can say about immigrants, it's that we're resilient.”
From Humble Beginnings to a Thriving Legal Practice
Through the unwavering support from her family, Veronica persevered through challenges. In 1999, She secured a position with the BC Securities Commission and later finished the legal equivalency requirements. In 2007, Veronica joined a startup firm, that, due to the financial crisis in 2008, had to close its doors leading to Veronica losing her job. However, she took this setback as an opportunity and decided to start her own practice, founding Veronica Armstrong Law Corporation.
Now, nearly 15 years later, with a team of eight, VALC has earned trust and credibility among clients, predominantly through word of mouth. Upholding their core value of using plain language, Veronica believes in fostering trust and empowering clients to make informed decisions, whether it's drafting wills or navigating complex investment regulations.
VALC’s journey exemplifies perseverance, resilience, and adaptability. As they look ahead, they remain steadfast in their mission to provide exceptional legal services, guided by integrity, empathy, and a deep-rooted commitment to their clients' well-being.
