RICHMOND, B.C. — The Richmond Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors learned yesterday morning that President and CEO Matt Pitcairn plans to leave the organization to commence the next chapter of his career.
“We thank Matt for his five years of service to the Chamber,” said Chair Brian Corcoran. “This organization is incredibly robust, with a dedicated existing staff, enthusiastic volunteers, and a diverse membership-base. As a board, we look forward to the opportunities ahead.”
Pitcairn has announced his intention to run for provincial office in the Richmond-Steveston riding. As the Richmond Chamber of Commerce is a non-partisan organization, Pitcairn’s resignation was effective immediately.
Earlier today the board of directors formalized the creation of a CEO Search Committee, tasked with recruiting a replacement in the coming months. Existing leadership staff, Dan Sakaki, and Shaena Furlong will act as Co-CEOs of the organization in the interim. They bring a combined over 40 years of experience working with all sizes of organizations in both public and private sectors, in Richmond, and throughout the lower mainland.
