The journey began with a vision passed down through generations. It all started with Rupert Stephens, a berry farmer on Vancouver Island and grandfather to the current leadership. Rupert championed organic practices back in the 1930s, long before they were mainstream, embodying the principle of “leaving the soil better than you found it.”

This ethos was passed down to his son, Arran Stephens, who, alongside his wife, Ratana, founded Nature’s Path in the 1980s with a simple yet impactful idea: to bring healthy, organic food to more people. Beginning with sprouted bread, they soon expanded into organic cereals, filling a gap in a market that had no options for organic breakfast foods.

With steadfast dedication, Arran and Ratana overcame countless hurdles in the early years. From struggling to source equipment to perfecting their unique cereal-making processes, they found success through resilience. Their efforts paid off; today, Nature’s Path remains at the forefront of organic food innovation, with an unwavering dedication to environmental stewardship.

In recent years, Nature’s Path has skillfully navigated the complexities of expanding into new markets and adapting to evolving consumer preferences. Yet, through it all, the company has held fast to its core values.

As Vice President of Mission and Strategy Jyoti Stephens shares, it is their parents’ belief that “success is the failure that never gave up” that continues to guide them forward.
